Transfer Guides - Simplifying College Transfer
How do transfer guides help students enter into our Bachelor of Science in Funeral Service Management program?
Transfer Guides and articulation agreements document a pathway between two colleges and their academic programs. These transfer guides attempt to simplify the college transition that leads to continued enrollment in our Bachelor of Science in Funeral Service Management (BFSM) program. The student benefits by following very specific course plans and avoids taking courses that are not applicable; therefore, reducing the loss of course credits.
What are college transfer guides, anyway?
First things first: a transfer guide is a formal document between Mid-America College of Funeral Service and another funeral service institution/program. The goal is to create a seamless transfer for students into the BFSM program. Transfer Guides open the lines of communication between two institutions for issues that transfer students care about.
Guaranteed admission
You may be thinking, “Guaranteed admission? Did I just read that correctly?!” Yes, you certainly did! It really doesn’t get any better than this: transfer guides guarantee the automatic acceptance of any student who has earned a funeral service associate degree from an ABFSE accredited institution/program and meet the minimal requirements.
Transfer credits
Transfer Guides lay out the MACFS transfer credit policies. The transfer guide will specify the maximum number of credits that will transfer. The program-to- program chart is a clear and concise table showing exactly how two academic programs align—one at your funeral service college/program and one at MACFS. For example, it shows how an associate degree in funeral service from a community college or other ABFSE accredited funeral service program aligns with our bachelor’s degree in funeral service management and/bachelor in mortuary science.
What next?
Typically, the next step is to connect with your admission advisor at the Mid-America College of Funeral Service, admissions@mid-america.edu. Truly, our admission advisors are your best resource on transfer guides—so take advantage! One of the biggest challenges for students being accepted into a bachelor’s program is that transfer students find out about them too late in their time at the community college. Don’t let this happen to you! Be sure to learn about your transfer options as soon as possible.
