Mid-America College offers three programs: a Cooperative Study Program, an Associate of Applied Science Degree (Funeral Service), and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Funeral Service.

These educational programs are fully accredited and approved by the Committee on Accreditation of the American Board of Funeral Service Education and the Indiana Commission on Proprietary Education.

Cooperative Study Program

Mid-America College of Funeral Service is proud to be associated in a program of cooperative study with two outstanding liberal arts colleges.  Cooperative study enables an enterprising student the opportunity to integrate his professional funeral service education in a planned program of academic study leading to the attainment of a Bachelor of Science Degree.  

Cooperative study requires completion of ninety (90) semester hours at either of the two institutions listed below, including sixty (60) hours of general liberal arts courses.  Minimum requirements include the following:

English Composition 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours)
Speech  2 semester hours (3 quarter hours)
Ethics (or Philosophy)  2 semester hours (3 quarter hours)
Psychology 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours)
Sociology 4 semester hours (6 quarter hours)
Laboratory Science 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)

Upon successful completion of one year of professional level studies at Mid-America College (in addition to the above), and passing the National Board Examination administered by the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards of the U.S., Inc., the student is eligible to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree from any one of those educational institutions listed below.

Associate of Applied Science Degree (Funeral Service)

An eighteen (18) month educational experience which blends general liberal arts studies with specialized professional studies in funeral service arts and sciences, this program fully satisfies all state and national standards of accreditation and is authorized by the Indiana Commission on Proprietary Education.

For Indiana residents, successful completion of this program will fulfill all statutory educational requirements for licensure in the state of Indiana.  For all out-of-state students, successful completion of this program will fully satisfy the minimum educational standards and criteria for the entry-level funeral service practitioner as specified by the Committee an Accreditation of the American Board of Funeral Service Education, the national accrediting agency for all colleges, schools, and departments of funeral service education.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Funeral Service

Mid-America College of Funeral Service is authorized by the Indiana Commission on Proprietary Education to award the Bachelor of Science Degree in Funeral Service. This program of study is accredited by the appropriate state and national accrediting agencies and permits the student to complete a Pre-Funeral Service Liberal Arts Core at a regionally accredited college or university followed by completion of the Funeral Service Division (Quarters 3, 4, 5, and 6) as a resident student of Mid-America College. Successful completion of both non-resident and resident requirements will qualify the student to receive the Bachelor of Science Degree in Funeral Service.
