Studentship
The behavior, conduct, and dress of any student reflects not only upon the individual, but also upon the profession in which he or
she is preparing to enter. Consequently, the College reserves the right to require the
immediate withdrawal of any student when, in its judgment, such action is in the best interest
of the College, its students, and the funeral service profession.
The right of due process is guaranteed to such student by the privilege of appeal to the President of the College and,
subsequently, the Board of Trustees.
Attendance
A student is expected, as a professional, to attend all scheduled classes. As at all
colleges and universities, specific classroom attendance requirements are established by
each individual instructor and are approved by the college administration.
Grades
Grades earned represent all of the work of the student in each course of instruction,
including daily assignments, classroom attendance and participation, hourly as well as
final examinations, combined in such manner and proportion as the instructor in charge
of the course may decide.
The following table presents the grade scale utilized by Mid-America College to evaluate
and measure the academic progress of a student:

The College maintains complete records of the academic progress of all students.
Students receive a Quarterly Grade Report at the conclusion of each academic quarter of study.
Promotion
In order to be promoted unconditionally to the next quarter of study, a student must earn
an overall quarterly average of C-75, with no individual course grade below a "D".
Should a student receive a failing grade in a subject, the student may be granted a probationary
continuance. The period of probation will conclude with the administration of
examinations as determined by the instructor of the course.
A student who is still failing a course after probationary examinations are given must repeat the course when it is next offered.
Formal Withdrawal Policy
A student withdrawing from studies for any reason must make a formal declaration
of his or her intention to withdraw and must be clear in every respect with the College.
Discontinuance of classroom attendance does not constitute a formal
declaration of intent to withdraw from studies.
The academic record of every student withdrawing from studies, formally or
otherwise, will reflect "WP" or "WF" for all courses in which he or she is currently
enrolled at the time of withdrawal. Any consideration for a refund of tuition will be based only upon the date of
formal withdrawal.
Comprehensive Examinations
Comprehensive examinations are administered at the conclusion of the academic
program in all major areas of instruction. These examinations indicate the proficiency
attained by the student in instructional areas of significance in state and national
licensing examinations.
To be considered a candidate for graduation, a student must successfully complete
all comprehensive testing by earning a minimum score of 75% on each comprehensive
examination. The results of all comprehensive examinations will be entered on the student's
permanent academic transcript.
