Mission Statement
The mission of Mid-America College of Funeral Service is
to provide a contemporary education for those having
chosen funeral service as their life's work that will
enable the student to become a successful entry-level
funeral service practitioner by:

inspiring in each student a desire to achieve
proficiency and efficiency in the practical skills
of embalming and restorative art, and |
 |
preparing each student to become an effective
funeral home manager or owner with acquired
management skills firmly conceived in proven,
successful business fundamentals, principles and
practices, and |
 |
promoting within each student a better understanding
of the complexities and dynamics of grief, the
ability to better anticipate the needs of those
bereaved, and to more fully appreciate the role and
central value of the funeral service practitioner as
a caregiver in the community. |

Aims and Objectives
Mid-America College of
Funeral Service in a non-profit corporation offering
post-secondary education to men and women interested in
funeral service as a career.
The aims and objectives
of this institution relate specifically to the mission
of educating and training the student for his or her
life's work in funeral service and are dedicated to the
ideals that all students:

self-discipline as they strive to accomplish their

Goals
of the College
The goals of Mid-America
College of Funeral Service promote the achievement of
institutional aims and objectives. To that end, the
College will strive to:

provide a modern curriculum equitable for the
advancement of funeral service education. |

fulfill our obligation to the community, our
students, graduates and to the funeral service
profession. |
 |
maintain high standards in the areas
of academics and in basic skills and techniques. |
 |
provide each student with the opportunity to
develop the technical skills necessary as a
foundation for success in funeral service. |

encourage students to take an active role in the
programs of their communities and their places of
worship. |
 |
develop in the student an understanding of and
appreciation for his responsibilities regarding
moral and ethical conduct, reverence for the dead,
protecting the public health as well as his own,
and showing proper dignity, sympathy, efficiency
and confidence as he serves his community. |

in each student an on-going desire for professional growth
through continuing education and graduate

each student a basic understanding of human behavior
and the practical application of that
understanding to self and others. |

organizations and agencies, in any noble efforts

service profession, licensure requirements and
research in the arts and sciences relative to the
